Hello! I'm Alesha, and welcome to Hole in the Wool!

I've been dreaming of starting my own business for a long time. The plan was to sell my own original knitting patterns. After creating a handful of patterns, I came across hand-dyed yarn and could not get the idea of dyeing my own yarn out of my head. Once I took that step and began dyeing yarn I was hooked. With some inspiration from my wonderful husband, Hole in the Wool was born.

I learned to crochet when I was 8 years old, and taught myself to knit in 2002 on a long car trip from Utah to Oregon. I do crochet occasionally, usually when my mom needs another pair of slippers. However, there is always a knitting project on my needles. I've always enjoyed working with my hands, and if I could spend all day knitting I would; it's truly my passion.

I live in the Salt Lake Valley with my family where we are surrounded by the beautiful Wasatch and Oquirrh mountains. There is plenty of cold weather here during the winter providing ample opportunity to wear all the cozy knits. It is truly an amazing place to live.

I love seeing how the colors play together with the yarn, each skein is unique and inspires new and endless possibilities. I find color inspiration from just about anywhere because the world is a beautiful place. Please visit again as new colorways are added often. I'm so excited to share this adventure with you all!

As for that handful of patterns I created...they're not forgotten. It is a goal of mine to publish them....someday ; )
